About ophelia chambliss
Ophelia M. Chambliss is a fine artist, lecturer, designer, and muralist known for her signature painting style, realistic cubism, which blends vibrant colors with narrative storytelling. With a B.A. and M.A. in Communications from Penn State, her work extends beyond visual art, incorporating critical discourse analysis and media representation.
Her career includes public art and large-scale murals, often created in collaboration with communities. She has completed permanent art installations in schools, municipalities, history centers, and hospitals. Originally from Chicago, IL, she now resides in York, PA, where she has made a significant impact on the local art scene.
Before transitioning to fine art full-time, Ophelia worked in publishing, graphic design, and business development, holding executive roles. In 2023, she founded Ophelia’s Making Agency (OMA), a nonprofit dedicated to supporting small, minority-owned, and creative businesses by providing commission-free studio spaces, professional development, and community-building resources.
She was awarded an honorary PhD from the Pennsylvania College of Art and Design in 2023, recognizing her contributions to art and community engagement.
